A Collaborative Approach to Enhancing Influenza A Virus Surveillance in Southeast Asia: A Case Study

Discover how a collaborative effort between Vysnova, the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM), and the Lao National Animal Health Laboratory is tackling the potential pandemic threat posed by emerging strains of Influenza A Viruses (IAV) in Southeast Asia. This case study explores the challenges faced by low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) in the region and highlights the importance of proactive surveillance and research in resource-constrained environments. Learn about the findings from extensive interviews, surveys, and lab work, which aim to characterize the risks associated with novel and emerging influenza strains. Find out how these efforts contribute to global public health by enhancing our understanding of IAV dynamics and developing effective surveillance strategies to mitigate future risks. The article concludes with recommendations for continued strategic collaborations, enhanced surveillance measures, and further research to refine pandemic prevention strategies based on these learnings.
