Vysnova Partners (Vysnova) is currently supporting the Incidence and Economic Impact of Brucella Infection in Humans and Animals in a High Risk County, for the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Global Disease Detection (GDD) Kenya

 Vysnova Partners Inc. (Vysnova) as a subcontractor to Total Solutions, Inc. (TSI), is supporting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Regional Center for Global Disease Detection (GDD) activities in Kenya to conduct community-based surveillance for Brucella in humans and animals in households in Kajiado County. Vysnova provides program management activities focusing in:

 

  • Field-based data and specimen collection for syndromic surveillance projects
  • Clinic-based data and specimen collection for syndromic surveillance projects
  • Diagnostic laboratory services and Capacity Building
  • Outbreak Response Support
  • Risk Communication & Preparedness
  • Monitoring and Evaluation

 

In addition to Program Management Vysnova provides in-country personnel, material, and other required support to ensure a successful program.

About the Program:

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has collaborated with public health institutions in Kenya since 1979 to address the major public health problems of the country and increasingly, East Africa.

 

The goal of these partnerships is to build and sustain local capacity in disease control, research, public health leadership, and laboratory strengthening. Principal partners include the Kenya Ministry of Health (MoH), the Kenyan Medical Research Institute (KEMRI), the World Health Organization (WHO), UNAIDS, and a host of multilateral organizations, U.S. government agencies and non-governmental institutions.

 

The Regional Center for Global Disease Detection (GDD) in Kenya focuses its current efforts on the following programs areas, including:

 

  • Emerging Disease
  • Field Epidemiology and Laboratory Training Program (FELTP)
  • Refugee Health
  • Laboratory capacity building
  • Risk/Emergency Response
  • Influenza
  • One Health (OH)
  • Global Immunization

 

GDD Kenya operates these programs by leveraging internal and external funding from a wide range of sources including; CDC, Department of State, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), pharmaceutical industry partners, Gates Foundation, and other partner groups.
