About the DHS Program:
The USAID Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS) Program (formerly the Monitoring and Evaluation to Assess and Use Results (MEASURE) DHS Program) which was initiated in 1984, provides technical assistance to middle and low income countries to implement the Program’s household level Demographic and Health Surveys (DHS), AIDS Indicator Surveys, and Malaria Indicator Surveys, as well as facility level Service Provision Assessment Surveys, and qualitative research. DHS provides a range of data collection options that are tailored to fit specific monitoring and evaluation needs of host countries related to women’s and children’s health, fertility, mortality, family planning, nutrition, HIV, malaria, and NCDs. In addition to assisting with survey implementation, The DHS Program provides assistance with dissemination and use of data, GIS, biomarker data collection and lab testing, creating maintaining archives and building institutional capacity all along the survey continuum from data collection to use.
